Nigerian drug enforcement authorities have intercepted a massive consignment of Canadian Loud cannabis weighing 4,173.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of ₦10.4 billion.

The shipment, which originated from Toronto and was routed through Montreal, Morocco, before arriving in Lagos on May 9, was successfully seized on May 12 following careful tracking of its complex international journey.

The operation was carried out by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in collaboration with a formidable coalition of international partners, including the Nigeria Customs Service, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the UK Home Office, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The cross-border partnership proved critical in monitoring and ultimately intercepting the sophisticated smuggling operation.

The bust comes on the heels of another significant seizure involving a raid on a mansion in the Lekki area of Lagos, where drugs valued at over ₦5.8 billion were recovered.

Together, the two operations signal an intensified effort by Nigerian and international authorities to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating across borders.

Officials have reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging global cooperation to root out and shut down criminal drug syndicates threatening public safety both within Nigeria and beyond.
