Tansian University in Umunya, Anambra State, has come out to deny claims circulating on social media that a priest affiliated with the institution was caught engaging in a sexual act with a female student.
The video making the rounds online showed a man, said to be a priest from the university's campus in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, being assaulted and stripped by a group of female students.
Unconfirmed accounts suggested he had been caught in a compromising situation with a student inside a hostel.
However, the university's management has firmly rejected the story as entirely false.
In an official statement issued by the institution's Public Relations Officer, Barr. Boniface Amalu, the management stated categorically that no such incident took place, either within or outside the university's premises, and that the allegation against the priest was completely unfounded.
The university added that it has already reported the matter to the police for a thorough investigation.
Amalu further stated that the false narrative was the work of individuals who are out to damage the university's hard-earned reputation.
The management urged students, parents, guardians, and the general public to disregard the claims entirely.
The institution also emphasized that as a faith-based university, it holds itself to the highest moral standards and would never tolerate any form of sexual misconduct within its community.
