A fresh controversy has erupted after Abdullahi Yakasai defended the federal government’s distribution of rice and fertilizer to states, describing it as a support measure for struggling communities aimed at easing pressure from rising food costs.
In an interview Online, on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu's top adviser, Abdullahi Yakasai, revealed the distribution of rice along with 20 trucks of fertilizer each state, saying it helps disadvantaged communities and has lowered food costs.
Online critics ridiculed it as insufficient, calculating that it is equivalent to less than a teaspoon of rice per person and joked that it is the government's go-to solution for all issues.
Many regard it as a gap between promises and everyday hardships, with inflation reaching 15.38% and previous rice transfers beset by delivery problems.
