Panic and outrage have erupted in Owode Onirin after a shocking incident left several students stranded just as examinations began.

Outrage has broken out at a Lagos school, established in 2005, after its proprietor allegedly absconded with students' examination fees without completing their registration for the 2026 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination.

Dozens of students now face the devastating prospect of missing the ongoing exams entirely, given that the registration window closed back in March.

The situation has sparked visible distress among students and parents, with videos circulating online capturing the anguish of those affected.

One voiceover on a widely shared clip summed up the betrayal felt by many, noting that the school's proprietor had fled with their WAEC money without registering them.

The pain runs particularly deep for parents who had to borrow funds to pay the examination fees, only to discover that the money never reached the examination body.

Those affected are now faced with the more expensive option of registering as private candidates an additional financial burden many may struggle to bear.

As of the time of reporting, neither the police nor the West African Examinations Council had issued any official response to the incident.
