A new directive from Anambra State has sparked fresh debate over public safety and security operations as officials move to tighten identification standards for operatives on the streets.

The Special Adviser to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, has issued a firm warning to commanders of the Agunechemba security outfit, directing that any of their operatives found wearing masks while patrolling public streets will face immediate arrest.

Emeakayi justified the directive by pointing out that criminals and those responsible for violent acts in the state commonly conceal their identities with masks.

Therefore security personnel must not be seen dressed in a similar manner, as it creates confusion and undermines public trust in legitimate security forces.
