Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun, has once again broken new ground by becoming the first African artist to surpass 11 billion total streams on Spotify across all his credits.

The milestone was announced on social media by music data platform ChartsAfrica, which noted that Wizkid has now been the first African artist to cross every major Spotify streaming milestone, from 1 billion all the way to 11 billion.

The achievement comes shortly after the release of his collaboration with DJ Tunez titled "State of Mind" on May 15, 2026, which attracted over 685,000 global streams on Spotify within its first full day of release.

Fans have responded with great excitement to the news, with many taking to social media to celebrate the feat.

Comments ranged from praise for his role in taking Afrobeats to a global audience, to predictions that he could reach 12 billion streams before the year is out, with several fans simply hailing him as the greatest of all time.

The milestone builds on an earlier record set in January 2026, when Wizkid became the first African act to hit 10 billion streams on the platform further cementing his status as a trailblazer for African music on the world stage.
