Troops Eliminate Bandits in Taraba as Weapons and Phones Recovered in Fierce Operation

In a high-stakes military operation in Taraba State, troops under Operation Whirl Stroke have neutralised suspected bandits during a targeted clearance mission in a remote community following intelligence reports.

Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have killed two suspected bandits during a clearance operation in the Sarkin Kudu area of Ibi Local Government Area, Taraba State.

The operation was carried out following credible intelligence received on May 18, 2026, pointing to the presence of suspected bandits at a hideout in the Dooshima District.

During the encounter, two bandits were neutralised while several others managed to flee, believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.

Items recovered at the scene include an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, a locally made pistol, an Android phone, three mobile phones, two charm vests and other personal belongings.

All recovered items have been taken into custody and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.

The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, praised the troops for their courage, professionalism and swift response during the operation.
