Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon has declared that Nigeria did not collapse under his leadership, expressing confidence that the country will continue to stand despite its current challenges.

Gowon made this statement on Tuesday in Abuja at the launch of his 859-page autobiography titled "No Going Back: My Life of Duty and Allegiance."

During the event, he expressed concern that Nigerians tend to overcomplicate simple problems by offering complex and ambiguous solutions that end up creating unnecessary tension across the country.

The former military leader said he believes his book will help address misconceptions and bridge gaps in the public's understanding of his time in power and the events surrounding it.
