Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain Peter Obi has responded to reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan is joining the 2027 presidential race, saying he is not concerned about who else is contesting.

Speaking to journalists after his screening in Abuja, the former Anambra State Governor said his attention is firmly fixed on building a better Nigeria rather than keeping tabs on his potential rivals.

He described democracy as a process of people offering themselves for service and being chosen by the people, and said he intends to focus solely on that.

Obi outlined his key priorities ahead of the 2027 election, saying he wants to build a united, secure and prosperous Nigeria through inclusive governance anchored on the principle of federal character.

He stressed that Nigeria must become safe enough for citizens to move freely without fear, and that families should no longer live under the constant anxiety of insecurity and killings.

He also expressed his vision of a Nigeria where the son of nobody can become somebody without needing to know anybody.
