Eid al-Kabir: Edo Deploys Over 1,500 Security Operatives for Statewide Safety Operation

The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 1,542 personnel across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Kabir celebrations to ensure peace and prevent security breaches during the festive period.

Over 1,500 security personnel have been deployed across Edo State ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Kabir celebrations!

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Edo State Command announced the deployment of 1,542 officers across all three senatorial districts of the state to ensure a peaceful and incident-free festive period.

Commandant Saidi Akintayo revealed that personnel have been drawn from various specialized units including tactical teams, the armed squad, Counter-Terrorism, Intelligence and Investigation, Agro Rangers, and Operations departments.

Officers have been strategically stationed at key locations including: Eid prayer grounds, Markets and recreation centres, Highways and motor parks, Places of worship and other vulnerable areas

Senior officers have also been directed to step up patrols, surveillance and intelligence gathering to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the celebrations.

The commandant sent a stern warning to criminal elements, making clear that security agencies are fully prepared to deal with any threats. Residents were also urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.

Akintayo commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for his continued support of security operations in the state, and called on Muslims to embrace the values of peace, sacrifice, tolerance, unity and love that the Eid al-Kabir season represents.
