Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has taken an early commanding lead in the African Democratic Congress presidential primaries, leaving supporters of rival contenders anxiously watching the next wave of results.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has gotten off to a strong start in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries, securing victories in five states in the early stages of counting.
The three-way race features Atiku, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Based on figures announced by Returning Officers across several states, Atiku has established a commanding advantage over his rivals in the early rounds.
He has so far defeated Amaechi in Gombe, Abia, Ebonyi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, with the following vote tallies recorded:
