Atiku Abubakar Slams Presidency Over Massive Security Blame Game

A high-profile political faceoff has erupted following a shocking mass abduction at local schools.

African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2027 presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to stop attributing Nigeria's insecurity crisis to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arguing that the current administration inherited the problem from its own party the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku, speaking through his media aide Paul Ibe, was responding to comments made by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu regarding the kidnapping of primary school pupils and teachers from LA School and Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oyo State.

Following the abduction, President Tinubu had dispatched a high-level delegation including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabilamila and Ribadu to the affected areas. During the visit, Ribadu stated that Tinubu inherited the insecurity situation while directing blame at the PDP.

Pushing back against that position, Ibe described Ribadu's remarks as revisionist and disingenuous, questioning how the APC could blame a PDP government it replaced over 11 years ago for its current inability to secure the release of abducted children.

He also criticised the two-week delay before the presidency sent a delegation to visit the families of the victims in Oriire.

"Tinubu inherited security challenges from his APC predecessor. Keep on blaming everyone except yourself while the children continue to languish in the custody of their abductors in Oyo, Borno and elsewhere," Ibe said, urging the administration to focus on action rather than blame.
