The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and alleged hired killers thought to be responsible for a string of violent incidents in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo, and surrounding communities.

The command announced the arrests through a statement shared on its official social media page on Tuesday.

The four suspects were named as Emmanuel Nwokolo, also known as "Oblo," aged 35; Ayola Israel, popularly called "Essy Pawpaw," aged 39; Ebuka Nnamdi, 31; and Chinedu Okafor, 22.

According to the police, the men were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation at a hotel in the Ajanmgbadi area of Ojo Local Government Area.

Early investigations reportedly uncovered evidence linking them to multiple violent crimes in the region.

A particularly damning piece of evidence a video allegedly showing the killing of unidentified persons in Ajanmgbadi and nearby communities was found on one of the suspects' mobile phones.

During questioning, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted to carrying out a series of attacks and killings that had caused widespread fear among local residents.

A follow-up search operation led to the recovery of two locally made pistols, a revolver, and 13 live cartridges believed to be linked to their criminal activities.

The police stated that investigations are still ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspects' activities, identify other members of the network, and apprehend any remaining accomplices.

The suspects are expected to be charged in court once investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command's dedication to tackling crime and maintaining public safety across Lagos State.

He assured residents that efforts to dismantle criminal groups and bring violent offenders to justice would continue, while also urging members of the public to stay alert and share useful information with law enforcement agencies.
