A popular entertainer has taken a surprising step into frontline politics after emerging as a party’s candidate for a legislative seat in Lagos State.

Popular Nigerian comedian and Big Brother Naija reality show alumnus, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, widely known as DeeOne, has secured the Lagos State House of Assembly ticket for the Ibeju Lekki Constituency 1 seat.
DeeOne, who is flying the flag of the BOOT Party, clinched the ticket after emerging victorious at the party's primary election.
Following his win, the comedian took to his social media page on Wednesday night to express gratitude to his party for the confidence placed in him, while also pledging his dedication to the people of the constituency should he be given the opportunity to serve.
In his post, he thanked the BOOT Party for endorsing him as their candidate for Ibeju Lekki Constituency 1, and sent a direct message to constituents ahead of the 2027 elections, promising to approach the role as a servant of the people rather than someone seeking power over them.
