The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has moved to clear the air over its selection of Donald Duke as its 2027 presidential candidate, firmly stating that the former Cross River State Governor fulfilled every requirement necessary to emerge as the party's flag bearer.

The party's National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, addressed the matter on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television's Morning Show, explaining that Duke went through the same process as every other aspirant, including submitting a formal application to join the party and successfully completing the candidate screening exercise.

Baba-Ahmed further clarified that when it came to the consensus-building meeting a mandatory step in the process all three aspirants, each from the southern part of the country, were brought together to determine who could secure a collective agreement.

Although Duke was outside the country at the time, he participated in the meeting virtually, engaging with the other contestants and giving his consent online.

The PRP chairman stressed that Duke's physical absence from the meeting did not constitute a violation of any party rule, regulation, or convention, adding that participating remotely was entirely acceptable under the circumstances.

He concluded by reaffirming that Duke conducted himself in full compliance with everything expected of a PRP presidential candidate.
