Allies of former President Goodluck Jonathan have cautioned against unauthorized individuals speaking on his behalf regarding the 2027 elections, stressing that only Jonathan himself can definitively address his political future.

The statement came in response to media reports quoting former aide Jude Imagwe, who appeared to rule out Jonathan's return to electoral politics prompting questions about whether he was voicing a personal view or an official position.

Speaking through Sam Presto of The Goodies Movement, a pro-Jonathan group, the associates maintained that only communications issued directly by Jonathan or through officially recognized channels should be treated as his actual stance.

They also urged the media to verify whether individuals claiming to represent political figures actually have the authority to do so before publishing such statements.

The group concluded that any comment on Jonathan's political plans whether supportive, dismissive, or speculative should be understood as that individual's personal opinion unless backed by a clear official mandate, adding that Nigerians deserve accuracy and clarity over assumption and guesswork.
