Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has expressed the belief that Nigeria deserved to win their international friendly against Poland, which ended 2-2 in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Bassey pointed to two late goals conceded in either half as the key moments that cost Nigeria maximum points.

The Super Eagles had twice taken the lead first through Terem Moffi, before Kacper Potulski equalized late in the first half, and then through Paul Onuachu in the second half, before a stunning stoppage-time strike from Przemysław Wiśniewski salvaged a draw for the hosts.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Bassey acknowledged there were areas to improve but took a measured view of the performance, noting that many players had arrived at camp at different times, with some only joining the day before the game.

He suggested that the lack of preparation time was a factor, while remaining positive about the experience of getting minutes on the pitch ahead of future fixtures.
