Veteran Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has publicly criticised President Bola Tinubu over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, calling on the federal government to demonstrate genuine empathy and take concrete steps to protect ordinary citizens.

In a video posted online, Dokubo drew a sharp contrast between the heavily fortified lives of government officials who move in armoured vehicles with armed escorts and the daily vulnerability faced by ordinary Nigerians.

She argued that this disconnect insulates leaders from the real suffering of the people they govern, making it easier for them to respond to crises with detachment rather than urgency.

Responding to recent comments made by the president on the country's security challenges, she insisted that symbolic or philosophical references were inadequate for communities experiencing real and immediate danger.

She specifically highlighted the plight of farmers who have been driven off their lands by insecurity, saying they need protection and actionable government intervention, not distant sympathy.

Dokubo also spoke emotionally about abducted schoolchildren, referencing a disturbing image of a child bound with stones tied to his body, and questioned how such scenes could fail to move those in power.

She expressed deep anguish for parents living in fear that they may never see their children again.

The actress further warned those who have grown desensitised to recurring violence not to treat insecurity as a permanent and acceptable feature of Nigerian life, cautioning that no one is immune from becoming a victim.

“You live a great life, driving in bulletproof cars escorted by armed vans and long convoys, so you don’t really feel our pain. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧.“
