Rapper Illbliss has called on Nigerians to embrace non-indigenes living in their states and move away from divisive rhetoric that targets residents who are not from a particular region.

Speaking on the Outside The Box podcast, the artist used the Igbo community in Lagos as an example of how non-indigenous residents contribute meaningfully to their host states, arguing that their role in driving trade and commerce has been significant to Lagos' economic growth.

He questioned what the city would look like if every Igbo resident were asked to leave, describing such sentiments as deeply troubling.

Illbliss expressed disappointment that tribalism and religious bigotry remain persistent challenges in Nigeria despite decades of coexistence as a nation, describing it as a reflection of how far the country still has to go.

He argued that Nigerians have no justification for being unwelcoming to one another, and that such divisions are holding the country back from where it ought to be.

The rapper also admitted that the depth of these divisions sometimes leads him to question whether Nigeria's existence as a single unified country was the right path to begin with.
