Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has issued a passionate call to Nigerian youths to reclaim their country, expressing alarm over the normalization of insecurity and the declining public outrage over repeated school abductions.

In a post shared on social media, the former Anambra State governor drew a striking comparison between the national and international response to the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls' abduction which sparked the globally recognized #BringBackOurGirls movement and the muted reaction to a succession of similar incidents since then.

Obi noted that under former President Muhammadu Buhari's eight-year tenure, Nigeria recorded approximately ten school abductions, while the Tinubu administration has already surpassed that figure in just three years.

He argued that the absence of sustained public outrage or significant international pressure in response to these more recent incidents points to a dangerous desensitization to insecurity among Nigerians.

The presidential candidate expressed deep concern that those in power appear more preoccupied with political positioning ahead of the next election than with urgently addressing the suffering of millions of Nigerians grappling with insecurity and poverty.

Obi urged young Nigerians in particular to resist the temptation of indifference and to refuse to treat failure as acceptable, insisting that the country's future depends on their willingness to demand better and actively drive change.
