Gunmen Suspected of Killing Two Soldiers in Ogun Attack

Fresh security concerns have emerged following a deadly attack that has sparked tension and raised questions about safety in the affected area.

Gunmen suspected to be b@ndits have allegedly killed two serving Nigerian Army personnel in the Mowe/Ibafo axis of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The assailants were said to have opened fire on the soldiers in the early hours of Monday in what eyewitnesses described as a surprise @ttack.

Details of the incident remained sketchy at the time of this report.

Reports making the rounds online indicated that a clip in circulation shows the blood-soaked remains of a soldier dressed in camouflage being evacuated in a pick-up van alongside plain-clothed security operatives and civilians.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command, 'Seyi Babaseyi, denied any knowledge of such an incident occurring in Abeokuta or any other part of the state.

However, the spokesperson of the Army Public Relations Department at the 35 Artillery Brigade Command in Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Major Idereghi Samuel, confirmed that soldiers were @ttacked.

He noted that he was yet to obtain full details of the incident but promised to revert to journalists once he had established the precise location and circumstances of the @ttack.
