Zamfara Police Arrest 21 Suspects, Seize 20 Motorcycles in Crackdown on ‘Arlet Boys’

The Zamfara State Police Command has intensified its operations against public disturbance, arresting 21 suspects and confiscating 20 motorcycles in a coordinated raid across parts of Gusau.

The Zamfara State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on public disturbance and reckless motorcycle riding, arresting 21 suspects and recovering 20 motorcycles during a coordinated operation in Gusau Local Government Area.

The operation followed persistent complaints from residents of Birnin Ruwa, Tullukawa, and Yar Gada communities over the activities of youths popularly referred to as "Arlet Boys," who were accused of engaging in dangerous motorcycle stunts and other disruptive behaviour that threatened public peace and safety.

According to the command, the raids were carried out on June 7, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., targeting identified criminal hideouts and black spots across the affected communities.

Officers apprehended 21 suspects and seized 20 motorcycles believed to have been used in the alleged disturbances.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the development, stating that the suspects are currently undergoing screening and investigation.

He added that the operation would be sustained to rid the affected communities of criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property, and that those found culpable after investigation would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
