Stand-up comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has said he supports divorce and even celebrates it when couples part ways, arguing that separation often brings relief to partners trapped in unhappy marriages.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Morayo Show, Bovi said divorce is preferable to remaining in a toxic relationship where one or both partners feel emotionally suffocated.

"I celebrate when people get divorced because I feel it means one or both people were not breathing well in the marriage. I will not suffer anybody, nor will I want anybody to suffer me," he said.

The comedian, however, clarified that his position on divorce does not mean marriage is without its challenges, revealing that his own 17-year union has not been without difficulties.

"That is not to say my marriage has been easy for 17 years. It has not. I got married at 29. I have been providing for 17 years nonstop," he said.

Bovi also touched on traditional expectations around gender roles in marriage, acknowledging the prevailing norm that men are expected to provide for their families while stressing the importance of women pursuing their ambitions and attaining financial independence.

He added that where a woman's passion drives her to contribute financially, such contributions deserve recognition and respect.
