The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into sh00ting incidents that occurred in parts of the state, leaving several people injured.

In a statement issued on Wednesday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, the command's spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi said the command was deeply concerned and had commenced efforts to identify and arr£st those responsible.

CP Gotan directed the Command's Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), alongside the Operations and Intelligence Departments, to begin a comprehensive investigation aimed at ensuring the arr£st and prosecution of all individuals connected with the att@cks.

The command assured residents that normalcy had been restored in the affected areas and that measures had been put in place to prevent a recurrence of the violence.

Security has been reinforced in the affected communities, while intelligence-led operations are ongoing to track down perpetrators and any sponsors linked to the incidents.

Officers also promptly evacuated injured victims to medical facilities for treatment, with those affected said to be responding positively to medical care.

The Commissioner of Police appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding, while urging members of the public with useful information to report to the nearest police station or contact the command through its emergency channels, assuring that all information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality.

The command warned individuals and groups against taking the law into their own hands or engaging in activities capable of threatening public peace in the state.

The development follows a wave of political tension in Osun State, with Governor Ademola Adeleke and the APC Governorship Campaign Council trading accusations over the violence reported in Osogbo, Ede, and Ile-Ife.

While the governor condemned what he described as coordinated att@cks by thugs linked to APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, the APC Campaign Council rejected the claims and instead accused supporters of the ruling PDP and Accord of orchestrating att@cks against its members and campaign assets.

The Accord Party, through its Osun State Chairman Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, also alleged that armed thugs linked to the APC campaign carried out sh00tings in parts of Osogbo and Owode-Ede, resulting in casualties and injuries.
