Oyo Community Gets Relief Support After Abduction Tragedy as Search for Victims Continues

Support efforts have reached Esinele community in Oyo State following the recent abduction of teachers and pupils, with renewed assurances that authorities are working to secure their safe return

The Director of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, Olufemi Onireti, has donated medical equipment and healthcare supplies to residents of Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area, during a condolence and solidarity visit following the recent abd¥ction of teachers and pupils in the area.

Speaking during the visit on Tuesday, Onireti expressed optimism that the abd¥cted teachers and pupils would soon regain their freedom, noting that government authorities were actively working to secure their safe release.

"We have the assurance that the teachers and pupils will return in peace. Government is working tirelessly to ensure their safe release.

We are here to identify with the people of Esinele and support the community during this difficult period. I want to advise you all not to lose hope. The government and security agencies are doing everything possible to secure their release.

Your children will return in peace. We share in your pain and will continue to pray and support you until they are reunited with their families," he said.

Onireti also presented a cash donation of N1 million to the family of late Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers affected by the tragic incident, and announced scholarship awards for the late teacher's sons, Oyedokun Abiodun and Samuel Oyedokun, to support their education.

The Elesinele of Esinele, High Chief Tajudeen Abioye, commended the Federal and Oyo State Governments for their interventions since the incident, specifically appreciating President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde for their concern and commitment.

He nonetheless appealed to authorities to intensify efforts and hasten the victims' return.

"We appreciate the Federal and State Governments for standing by us during this difficult time. We have received assurances from government representatives that the teachers and pupils will be released.

We appeal that all necessary steps be taken to hasten their return to their families," he said.

Recall that scores of teachers and pupils were abd¥cted during coordinated att@cks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School; and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, on May 15, 2026. The incident also claimed the life of teacher Michael Oyedokun, whose passing has drawn widespread sympathy across the state.
