Pastor William Kumuyi has publicly addressed speculation over leadership succession in his ministry, making it clear that he does not intend to pass church authority to his sons.

Pastor William Kumuyi, founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has addressed circulating rumours about succession plans within the church, firmly stating that he will never hand over leadership to either of his biological sons, Jeremiah or John.

In a video that has since spread widely online, Kumuyi emphasised that the church is not personal property and therefore cannot be passed down as a family inheritance.

He drew on biblical precedent, citing apostles such as Peter, Paul, and John none of whom transferred church leadership to their sons to underscore his belief that divine choice, not family lineage, should determine succession.

His remarks have earned widespread praise online, with many commending his stance as a refreshing departure from the "family business" model increasingly associated with some Nigerian megachurches.

Kumuyi, who continues to preach globally, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the ministry remains guided by spiritual principles rather than personal or familial interests.
