Reports making rounds in the Nigerian media space reveals Buhari has placed a restriction on the circulation of newspapers in Aso Rock Villa leading to losses among media houses.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the drastic reduction in the number of national newspapers supplied to the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The restriction, evidence of the prevalence of the economic downturn, means that only few top officials of government are entitled to copies at the expense of the government.

Nigerian Pilot Saturday learnt that supplies to the offices of the Chief of Staff to the president, the Permanent Secretary State House and the Deputy Chief of Staff were restricted to between one and four copies.

Although when the directive was given isn’t clear, however its adverse effect on newspaper circulation in Abuja has been felt by media houses that now have huge additional unsold copies, some of which could have been supplied to the Presidency.
