The House of Representatives has adopted the report on the proposed establishment of state police and approved 18 constitutional amendment clauses during Thursday's plenary session presided over by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

A total of 288 lawmakers voted in support of the bill while four were against it.

The approved clauses formed part of recommendations considered by lawmakers during deliberations on constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening governance, security and institutional effectiveness across the country.

The adoption of the state police report marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to reform Nigeria's security architecture amid growing calls for decentralised policing.

Details of the approved constitutional amendment clauses were yet to be released as of the time of filing this report.
