Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced fresh security measures aimed at curbing b@ndit and k!dn@p activities across the state, including a ban on the sale and transportation of petroleum products in jerrycans, as well as the closure of Point of Sale (POS) businesses and commercial phone-charging points in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.

The measures were contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the directives form part of an Executive Order issued following an emergency security meeting attended by security agencies, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders, with the new measures designed to cut off logistics and communication channels allegedly being exploited by criminal elements.

The statement explained that the sale, purchase, transportation, and storage of petroleum products in jerrycans have been banned across the state with immediate effect, a measure intended to prevent the diversion of fuel supplies to criminal groups operating in remote areas.

Governor Radda also approved the immediate closure of all POS businesses and commercial phone-charging points in Matazu and Musawa LGAs, citing security assessments showing that such facilities were being exploited by criminal networks to facilitate their activities.

In addition, the use of motorcycles has been banned throughout both LGAs, a restriction aimed at disrupting the movement and operations of b@ndits and k!dn@ppers who typically rely on motorcycles for transportation.

The governor reiterated that the safety of citizens remains his administration's highest priority and assured residents that the government would continue working closely with security agencies to restore peace and stability across the state.

He urged residents to support the security efforts by fully complying with the directives and providing useful information to security agencies when necessary, warning that defaulters would not be treated with leniency.

The statement reaffirmed the state government's commitment to taking all lawful and necessary measures to keep communities safe, secure, and conducive to economic and social activities.
