The immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has stated that he has no intention of leaving the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Social Democratic Party, SDP, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on his behalf by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, made available in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday.
It was gathered that speculation had emerged online on Tuesday suggesting that Adelabu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, had finalized plans to defect to the SDP.
Reacting to the claim, Adelabu dismissed it as false and unfounded, describing it as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
In the statement, he reaffirmed his commitment and loyalty to the APC, insisting that no amount of falsehood could sway him from the party.
Those behind the rumour were urged to understand that Adelabu remains firmly committed to the APC, and that no degree of propaganda, wishful thinking, or political mischief could change that fact.
The statement further described the attempt to associate him with a non-existent defection plan as highly disrespectful, condemning it as a calculated move to attract media attention and manufacture a political narrative that does not exist.
