The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, has said he has no political godfather.

Speaking during an interview on a television programme on Thursday, Oluyede said the people of the state are his real godfather, ahead of Saturday's gubernatorial election.

He said it was a well-known fact that the only godfather he has is the people themselves, adding that they should believe in his track record of investment in the state.

According to him, he is currently the only person willing to trust the state enough to invest in it at this point in its history.

He said he had put in his money, time and energy to demonstrate that things could be different, and expressed concern over what he described as questionable fairness on the part of the current police force in Ekiti.

He pointed to situations where his supporters had reportedly been arrested for unclear reasons that could not be explained, while alleged members of the APC in his hometown who attacked people with machetes had gone unarrested, saying such inconsistencies needed to be questioned.
