Kogi State Police have dismissed viral claims suggesting that passengers were abducted along the Kabba-Okene highway, describing the report as misleading and inaccurate.

The Kogi State Police Command has dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging that passengers were k!dn@pp£d along the Kabba-Okene Road on June 17, 2026.
The command's spokesperson, Oyiza Salisu, clarified the incident in a statement on Friday, saying no k!dn@pping took place on the route and describing the allegations as false and misleading.
According to the statement, at around 9 p.m. on June 17, a commercial bus driven by Ojo, an indigene of Kabba, was travelling to Ibilo carrying a load of coco yam when the driver noticed unusual lights ahead.
The driver attempted to make a U-turn and, upon seeing some individuals approaching, abandoned the vehicle and ran to a nearby military checkpoint for safety.
Salisu clarified that no passenger was k!dn@pp£d or harmed, as there were no passengers on board at the time of the incident.
According to the statement, initial findings showed the incident was not criminal in nature, with the vehicle having developed an electrical fault, which contributed to the circumstances.
The goods were subsequently transferred to another vehicle and transported to their destination without any further incident.
The statement noted that the matter was handled at the military checkpoint and was not formally reported to the police because there was no k!dn@pping or c@su@lty.
"For clarity, the circulating claims of an @rm£d b@ndit @tt@ck and @bduction of passengers are misleading and inaccurate," the statement added.
