Adamawa Police Sweep Nets 57 Suspects in Crackdown on Youth Crime and Drug Abuse

A large-scale security operation in Adamawa has led to multiple arrests as police intensify efforts against rising street-level crime and suspected gang activity in major urban areas.

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 57 young persons on allegations of stealing, drug abuse, and public nuisance, in a coordinated operation targeting cr+minal hideouts and black spots within Jimeta and Yola metropolitan cities.

The command said the arrests were made in the course of its ongoing campaign against Shilla gangsterism a pattern of cr+minal activity typically involving youths who bear light weapons and steal from residents, sometimes during the day and at other times by breaking into homes and shops at night.

In a statement signed by the command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, police said the operation was carried out by Divisional Police Officers under the supervision of their Area Commanders and resulted in the recovery of various dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances from the suspects.

The command added that the recovered exhibits had been documented and would be tendered as evidence during prosecution, and reaffirmed its commitment to ridding communities of cr+minal elements and enhancing public safety across the state.
