Actress Angela Okorie has responded to public criticism following her decision to burn the outfit she wore to the funeral of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, a move that sparked mixed reactions online.
In an earlier post on her Instagram page, Okorie had disclosed that she burnt the outfit on the advice of an elder, a revelation that drew backlash from some users who questioned her actions.
Addressing the controversy, she clarified that her statement had been misunderstood and was not intended to generate public debate.
She explained that the outfit was handed over to her aunt in Owerri for disposal and was never taken to Lagos as widely assumed, adding that her original post was directed at specific individuals rather than the general public.
Okorie also urged critics to show sensitivity, noting that the bereaved family and close associates of the late actor were still in mourning, and cautioned commentators to seek proper understanding of a situation before drawing conclusions.
