Residents of Dahiru Road in Kurmin-Mashi, Kaduna State, have been left in shock following the sudden d£ath of a teenage boy identified as Sadiq, said to be between 12 and 14 years old, in circumstances that have led to the detention of his mother and stepfather.

According to reports, the incident began on Monday night after Sadiq's mother, Hauwa'u Adamu, sent him to withdraw ₦5,000 from a nearby PoS shop.

The boy allegedly made two withdrawals but returned home with only ₦5,000. His stepfather, Sharhabil, subsequently visited the PoS operator, who reportedly confirmed that two separate withdrawals had been made.

Upon their return, the couple allegedly subjected Sadiq to severe b£ating as punishment.

A female neighbour who heard the boy crying around 10pm is said to have intervened and pleaded with the couple to stop, but her appeals were ignored.

A local Islamic cleric was also reportedly contacted and came to caution the duo, but they did not heed his advice.

The boy was left in that condition after everyone departed, and his d£ath was confirmed the following morning.

Police from the Kurmin-Mashi Division have since taken the boy's body to Yusuf Dantsoho Hospital for examination to determine the cause of d£ath, while his mother and stepfather have been detained as investigations continue.
