The management of the Federal University Wukari has announced an immediate and comprehensive ban on all student sign-out activities, citing safety and security concerns associated with such celebrations.

The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Academic Affairs Division and signed by the Academic Secretary, Mr. Micah Sylvanus O., on behalf of the registrar on Thursday.

The decision was approved by the university's Senate during its 76th regular meeting held on May 26, 2026.

According to the circular, the ban covers all activities traditionally associated with sign-out ceremonies, including signing on T-shirts, dancing and processions within and outside classrooms, as well as student movements and gatherings around the campus and its surrounding areas.

The university specifically prohibited parties and celebrations around its gates and along the Katsina-Ala–Jalingo highway, noting that such activities frequently cause congestion and pose risks to students and members of the public.

The circular further warned that no student, group of students, or association is permitted to organise, sponsor, or participate in convoys, public processions, or the spraying of money as part of graduation or passing-out celebrations.

University security personnel have been directed to strictly enforce the new policy and promptly report any violations.

The management, while reiterating its commitment to student welfare and safety, emphasised the need for strict adherence to institutional rules and regulations to avoid disciplinary consequences.

Students have been urged to comply fully with the directive, which takes immediate effect.
