According to businessman Olufemi (Femi) Afolabi-Brown, who is married to media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, there should be a considerable age difference between a man's first and second wives in order to prevent conflict in polygamous marriages.

Afolabi-Brown stated on The Brown Couch Podcast that a guy should ideally wed his second wife roughly 25 years after his first.

This would guarantee that the offspring from both marriages belong to separate generations, which would lessen the likelihood of rivalry, he said.

"Your first wife ought to be a lot older than your second wife. You can marry your second partner at age 50 if you first marry one at age 25.

in order for the first child's offspring to act as the younger ones' big brothers, uncles, and aunts. Since they are not of the same generation, there can never be rivalry between them.

He maintained that having a second wife just a few years after the first frequently causes strife in the household.

"Your home will be the center of chaos if you marry your first wife in the first year of your marriage and then your second wife in the third." You are powerless to get away from it.

Afolabi-Brown added that before thinking about polygamy, couples should first develop a common goal in their union, pointing out that this process can take years.

“Before a husband and wife can consolidate in purpose, it may take 10 years.

Once they identify that purpose and both of them have keyed into it, if the man goes to marry a second wife because of the purpose, the first wife will overlook.”
