According to Nollywood actress and director Deyemi Okanlawon, mediocres in Nigeria have a higher chance of success than professionals.

Okanlawon characterized Nigeria as a nation where mediocrity flourishes at the price of quality in a recent Dear Ife podcast episode.

He cautioned that being "too professional" in Nigeria is dangerous and could impede one's ability to succeed and advance in their career.

You can't be too serious in a nation where mediocrity is the norm. I was made fun of for being too professional to succeed in Nigeria.

The most successful people are those that behave in the most carefree manner.

He remarked, "I've realized that in order to succeed here, you have to tone your intellect down a lot."
