The Kebbi State Hisbah Agency has arrested three underage Qur'anic school pupils, commonly known as Almajirai, over their alleged possession of hard drugs.

This was disclosed by the agency's Director of Da'awa and Public Awareness, Malam Sirajo Usman Kamba, while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

Kamba said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, aged between 10 and 13, hail from Niger State and Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

He said the agency has begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the children's alleged involvement in the offence, including examining the roles their parents and teachers may have played.

He noted that the agency remains concerned about the increasing exposure of children to harmful substances and other social vices, and assured that appropriate steps would be taken to protect the children and steer them away from negative influences in society.

Kamba reaffirmed the agency's commitment to promoting moral values and safeguarding the welfare of children across the state, adding that the suspects remain in the agency's custody as investigations continue.
