A major road project has received the green light in Delta State, promising to reshape movement and business activities across several communities.

The Delta State Government has approved the reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road at a cost of N22.69bn as part of efforts to improve road infrastructure and boost economic activities across the state.
The approval was granted during the 14th meeting of the Delta State Tenders Board for 2026, held on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Deputy Governor, Government House, Asaba.
The project involves the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road, stretching from the Warri–Port Harcourt Expressway at ECN Junction to the DSC Expressway at Udu Road Junction, with a spur leading to Otor-Udu.
It covers portions of Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas and will be executed by the Ministry of Works (Highways and Urban Roads).
Speaking after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads) said the approval reflects the state's commitment to improving road infrastructure across Delta.
He explained that the project would enhance connectivity between communities, ease the movement of people and goods, and support commercial and economic activities within the affected areas.
According to him, the reconstruction aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's MORE Agenda, which focuses on delivering durable infrastructure to improve the living standards of residents.
He expressed confidence that the project, once completed, would reduce travel time, improve transportation, and contribute to the socio-economic development of communities along the corridor.
