The Nigerian naira exchanged at roughly ₦1,373.99 to the United States dollar on the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) on Thursday, July 9, 2026, based on the most recent available market figures.

Data from the official market indicated that the naira has continued trading within a fairly stable range in recent sessions, as market participants kept a close watch on liquidity levels and demand for foreign currency.

On the parallel market commonly referred to as the black market the dollar was changing hands at around ₦1,410, though figures differed slightly depending on the dealer and location.

This left a gap of roughly ₦36 between the official NFEM rate and the parallel market rate, underscoring the premium that buyers sourcing foreign currency outside official channels continue to pay.

Rates on both the official and parallel markets shift daily in response to supply and demand dynamics, liquidity conditions, and wider economic factors.

Because of this, figures quoted by banks, bureaux de change, and street traders may vary slightly from the averages reported here.
