The Lagos State Government has rescheduled the 2026 placement test from Saturday, July 25, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The placement test is an annual entrance examination conducted by the Lagos State Examinations Board for final-year primary school pupils seeking admission into public junior secondary schools across the state.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through the board, announced the change in a statement posted on the state government's official social media handle on Tuesday.
The Registrar of the Board, Mr Adebayo Orunsolu, said the adjustment became necessary because the initial date coincided with the monthly environmental sanitation exercise observed on the last Saturday of every month across the state.
According to him, the restriction of movement during the sanitation exercise would have significantly affected candidates, parents, guardians and examination personnel travelling to designated centres.
He said the board therefore approved Tuesday, July 28, as the new date for the examination in the interest of all stakeholders and to ensure its seamless conduct.
Orunsolu appealed to parents, guardians, school administrators and candidates to take note of the revised date and make the necessary adjustments, assuring stakeholders that adequate arrangements had been put in place for a successful, transparent and hitch-free exercise.
While expressing regret over any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling, he thanked stakeholders for their understanding, cooperation and continued support, adding that the board remained committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, efficiency and excellence in the administration of public examinations in the state.
