The Kebbi State Government has approved the enrolment of 50,000 vulnerable people into its Social Health Insurance Scheme as part of efforts to expand access to quality healthcare and advance Universal Health Coverage.

The Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Contributory Health Care Management Agency, Dr Murtala Muhammad Dandare, disclosed the approval on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris.

He said the enrolment would significantly improve the state's health indices, strengthen its standing among states in the Northern Governors Forum, and accelerate progress towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

According to him, the enrolment exercise would soon commence across the state's 21 local government areas, targeting about 200 eligible beneficiaries from each of Kebbi's 225 wards.

Dandare appealed to healthcare providers in the state to remain calm despite challenges affecting the implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, while commending Governor Idris for his efforts towards transforming healthcare across the state.
