Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commiserated with the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, over the d£ath of his mother, Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour.

The governor's condolence message was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.

Sanwo-Olu urged Rhodes-Vivour, his siblings and the entire family to accept the loss as the will of God, noting that d£ath, though painful, is an inevitable part of life.

On behalf of his family, the government and the people of Lagos State, the governor sympathised with Rhodes-Vivour, his siblings and other family members over the passing of Mrs Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.

He urged the family to draw strength from what he described as an exemplary life lived by the deceased, describing her as a woman who would be remembered for her wisdom and contributions to those around her, noting that although losing a loved one is painful, the family should take solace in a life well lived, adding that the late matriarch would be sorely missed for the wise counsel she was known for.

Sanwo-Olu further prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Mrs Rhodes-Vivour's soul and asked God to comfort her family during the difficult period, praying that she be granted eternal rest and that the family be given the fortitude to bear the loss.

It was earlier reported that Rhodes-Vivour announced his mother's passing in a post on social media on Monday, describing the late Mrs Rhodes-Vivour as a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother whose life was defined by love and selflessness.

The announcement, signed by his brother, Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, on behalf of the family, stated that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

In a memorial tribute accompanying the announcement, the family described the late matriarch as a woman whose kindness and unwavering love shaped the lives of those around her, saying she loved fiercely and gave endlessly, and that in her arms they found home while in her smile they found peace.

They described her as a wife who cherished and a mother who nurtured, whose love remained their shelter and continues to live on unshaken in the hearts of those she held, adding that though she is gone from sight, she remains ever present in their hearts.
