The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The party's National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, disclosed this while explaining that the absence of the party's presidential candidate's name on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal should not be interpreted as a failure to comply with electoral guidelines.
According to Opara, the party's leadership had already resolved to back Tinubu's re-election bid following what he described as extensive consultations within its ranks.
He explained that the decision was reached by the party's National Executive Committee (NEC), which concluded that supporting the president's second-term ambition serves the overall interest of the country.
He stressed that APGA remains an active participant in the electoral process despite not fielding a presidential candidate, noting that the party has successfully completed the submission of candidates for other elective positions and has uploaded the names of its candidates for the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections to the INEC portal.
"We have not uploaded a presidential candidate because the National Executive Committee of the party has already taken a decision to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027," Opara said.
