According to Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Nigerian Democratic Congress's (NDC) vice presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, party members are just looking for food.

The former governor of Kano State stated during an appearance on Channels Television on Monday that the NDC's followers are determined to see a shift in the nation's leadership.

Kwankwaso and Peter Obi are the flag-bearers of the NDC and will be contesting against the likes of Bola Tinubu, the incumbent president and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress.

Earlier this year, Kwankwaso agreed to become the running mate to Peter Obi, and both leaders have since merged their support groups, the Obidient Movement and the Kwankwasiyya, in a bid to wrestle power from the APC-led government.

Speaking on a television programme, he said their supporters are not merely people looking for money, textiles or food items on election day, but individuals determined not only to vote but also to ensure that the votes cast are protected.
