The people of Awun in Oro-Ago community, in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have paid N60 million to secure the freedom of three abductees kidn@pped four months ago.

An online news platform reliably gathered that the money was contributed by villagers and indigenes in the diaspora.

Local sources also disclosed that aside from the N60 million, the k!dnappers collected two 50kg bags of rice, 20 litres of groundnut oil, a carton of spaghetti, 10kg of semovita, assorted beer and seasoning sauce, among other items.

It was further gathered that the r@ns0m was announced on the community's social media platform, through which indigenes in the diaspora receive updates.

According to a source, the victims were taken from their home in the morning in February this year, while their father, Olajide Buraimoh, was away.

The source said the three victims, aged between four and 15, were released on Monday after the r@ns0m was raised, adding that they endured untold hardship during captivity.

A pregnant woman among the victims was released the previous week, while the minors were held until Monday.

Another source, Ismail, described the situation in Awun as pitiable, saying only divine intervention could save the community.

He said news of the children's release came in the evening the previous day, describing it as cheering news despite the serious financial strain the community went through to raise the funds.

Contacted for comment, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, said he was not aware of the development, stating that no one had informed the command of any abd*ction, let alone the payment of a r@ns0m.
