Security operatives have arrested a suspected Boko Haram intelligence operative in Borno State during an investigation into a recent attack in the region.

A suspected Boko Haram spy has been detained by security personnel in Monguno, Borno state, on suspicion of being involved in the recent terrorist attack on Cross Kauwa.
The suspect, known as Abulfatahi, was captured on July 27 during an intelligence-led operation aimed at members of a terrorist intelligence network operating in the region, according to sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency journal.
According to Makama, "sources revealed that two other members of the same network had previously been arrested and transferred to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Center (JIFC) for further investigation."
During preliminary interrogation, Abulfatahi reportedly confessed to working for a B0ko H@ram commander identified as Akilu, said to control t3rrorist activities in Dabar Masara and Garin Mace.
According to the sources, the suspect admitted to collecting taxes on behalf of the t3rrorist leader and facilitating the selection of individuals for @bduction around Monguno.
Investigators also recovered two telephone numbers allegedly linked to Akilu from the suspect's mobile phone as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the t3rrorist network.
Makama said the sources disclosed that security agencies were conducting further investigations to identify additional collaborators, establish the full extent of the network's activities and support ongoing counter-terr0rism operations in the Lake Chad region.
It was gathered that a comprehensive investigation report is expected to be submitted upon the conclusion of the ongoing inquiry.
