Obinwa Obichukwu, a 45-year-old Nigerian man, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a lady twice close to London's Euston train station and was sentenced to two years in prison in the UK.
Obichukwu, of Armstrong Close, Hertfordshire, was found guilty on two charges of sexual assault after the British Transport Police (BTP) conducted an investigation.
On August 20, 2023, in the evening, the a§ñaults took place.
According to investigators, Obichukwu approached the woman as she made her way towards the station, striking up a conversation about the music she was listening to before putting his arm around her shoulder and inviting her to his home.
He allegedly grabbed her hand, repeatedly told her he loved her, and blocked her from entering the station before sexually assaulting her.
He is said to have then followed her down an escalator and assaulted her again near the ticket barriers, before she eventually managed to push him away and escape, after which she reported the incident to the police.
During the trial, Obichukwu claimed the encounter had been consensual, but the jury rejected his defence and returned a guilty verdict.
Detective Constable Daniel Burke described him as a sexual predator who had targeted a lone woman, adding that the conviction reflected the force's commitment to tackling violence against women and girls.
Following the victim's report, officers arrested Obichukwu at his home.
He has since been sentenced to two years' imprisonment.
