A 28-year-old widow in Lagos has appealed for help after accusing her late husband’s family of assault and attempts to take control of his belongings shortly after his death.

Tosin, a 28-year-old widow, has called for assistance after accusing her late husband's family of assaulting her and trying to seize his belongings just a few days after his death.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu posted on social media that Tosin's husband passed away on July 20, 2026, following a battle with illness.
He alleged that just days after the burial, the deceased's father, mother, brother and his wife moved into the family's home in Ikorodu, Lagos, and ordered the widow and her two young sons to confine their belongings to a single room.
He further claimed that some of the deceased's properties had already been shared out, while plans were reportedly underway to sell his car.
A video circulating online also captured a heated confrontation between Tosin and her father-in-law, in which the distressed widow was heard repeatedly crying out in Yoruba, translated as, "You all are stressing me! You all are oppressing me!"
Speaking in English while fighting back tears, she alleged that they were not supposed to do anything to her, claiming they had started be@ting her even though they had no right to touch her.
Adding that she was weak, hungry and tired at the time it happened, and that he b3at her, dr@gged her phone from her and threw her to the floor, questioning what would have happened if she had hit her head.
Gwamnishu also shared a video showing the widow's father-in-law padlocking the gate and locking her out of the house, despite reportedly owning another residence.
He further claimed that Tosin had begun receiving thr3ats after speaking publicly about the matter, and called on the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency and the Lagos State Police Command to intervene, insisting that no widow should have to fight for dignity, shelter and justice just days after losing her husband.
